When hunting at a reducer vs a gearbox, typically the only variation is terminology. This is because all reducers are gearboxes. Even so, not all gearboxes are retarders. This might seem complicated, but it’s really quite easy. A reducer is a gear established between the motor and the equipment. The objective of the reducer is to decrease the rotational velocity transferred amongst these two endpoints. The reducer amplifies and multiplies the torque (input) produced by the motor. Second, a reducer, as the name suggests, minimizes the velocity of the enter (output in rpm) so that the output is the proper velocity. The time period “gearbox” is just a generic phrase utilized for the gear train among the motor and the equipment. Therefore, all reducers are gearboxes. Even so, not all gearboxes decrease input pace. Even though unheard of, gearboxes can in fact increase enter speeds. By far the most frequent type of gearbox is a retarder, but it would be incorrect to say that all gearboxes are retarders.
